Track Review: SPILT “Facemelter”

The intro to the new single from Runcorn band SPILT is exactly what you’d expect. It crashes in with supersonic grunge energy underpinned by a huge bass drum.

The sound, in fact, imitates something bigger that what a standard three piece band might produce. Their self-titled “infusion of grunge and psychedelia” kindly puts the finger on it. But “Facemelter” is more of the former, after the blast of the demolition job intro it mellows into a moody, snarling track like one from “In Bloom”.

The Nirvana likenesses won’t ever be too far off, and it is that psychedelia that creates a different vibe that will no doubt be explored to varying degrees in their future releases.

Keep an eye..
