The Premier League is back and thus FPL is back. A lot has changed over the past 2 weeks including in-comings, out-comings, injuries, and more have sparked the excitement for a return to domestic league football.
As Gameweek 4 is upon us, here’s our weekly look at the league table so far. Jack Cousin sits at the top and so far this season no one has been able to retain their place for more than a single gameweek, could his already strong 194 points allow him to become the first to pull it off? Conversely, at the bottom of the table sits Tom Newton with 114 points.
IN: Renato Sanches £5.0m
Arguably the most surprising signing on Deadline Day, the Portuguese wonderkid has found himself at Swansea on loan from Bayern Munich. Manager Paul Clement’s previous experience with the youngster and contacts at former club Bayern Munich helped bring in the central midfielder. The dynamic & feisty Sanches is set to get consistent game-time at the Welsh club and could be a really bargain at his price. He’s certainly going to be a popular one for FPL players.
OUT: Ryan Shawcross £5.0m
It seems long ago since Shawcross was in International contention but did pick up an injury over the break but only at Stoke. He’s a doubt this gameweek as Manchester United come to town but could come around to face them. With United in red-hot form and the defender not guaranteed to play, it’s best to avoid him.
IN: Riyad Mahrez £8.5m
The most anti-climactic player involved in transfer window, Mahrez has still proved his worth at Leicester. It may be a new-look side that the Algerian will be playing in but with a good set of fixtures ahead of him, he could be the man to start hitting form now he knows where he’s going to be for the foreseeable future. His price may not be a bargain but it certainly could look it if he starts becoming more & more expensive as his form increases.
OUT: Hugo Lloris £5.5m
Tottenham are really struggling to get going this season and have been conceding goals uncharacteristically. With a tough fixture against Everton this gameweek, Lloris could be someone to avoid with goalkeepers such as David De Gea and Jonas Lössl available.
IN: Álvaro Morata £5.0m
Many doubted just how well Morata would start in the Premier League but the Spanish striker has been in the goals & assists since he arrived. With Diego Costa out of the fold and Chelsea failing to sign another striker, it’s likely that the former Real Madrid & Juventus man will get even more chances. He’s versatile and shows a persistent willingness with could massively help out his cause this campaign.
OUT: Aaron Ramsey £7.0m
Arsenal are yet again struggling. The #WengerOut shout is back and players are crumbling under the pressure. Ramsey has yet to break into the side and in such a toxic squad at the moment, it’s not worth the risk. The Welshman has failed to make an impact for his club for a number of years now and this year seems no different. His price should also sway anyone’s thoughts into not picking him up this week.
