You all having a good weekend, then? Here’s your Saturday…
Saturday, and we’re again firing on all cylinders, Sheffield’s Reverend and The Makers will make the Main Stage bounce before Feeder return to Kendal Calling. The Pale White will blow the roof off Calling Out from. Rock band Editors are on back at the Main Stage with a backlog of hits, ‘Munich’, ‘Papillon’ and ‘Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors’, to name a few. Then, Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys will present their 1966 album ‘Pet Sounds’, which is often regarded as one of the best of all time. Wilson’s appearance will go down in KC history and is not to be missed.
Saturday’s Woodlands Stage lineup features an intriguing name, Mexrissey. As you’ve guessed, it’s a Mexican Morrisey tribute, Smiths songs and all. It’s sure to be one of the most interesting sets of the weekend.
Over on the Carvetti Stage, Mylittlebrother, the Penrith band are highly rated including by Louder Than War who said that, “there’s something very special happening in The Lake District.” There sure is this weekend.
Another huge name at the festival is in Glow for a DJ set; The Streets’ Mike Skinner is in the house from 21.20 spinning new hits from Birmingham’s underground and some classic Streets numbers. At the same time, Saturday Main Stage headliners Manic Street Preachers kick off at 20.55. The Welsh band were one of the 90s biggest names and their set is sure to reflect over 30 years in music. The Hunna (22.20) overlap The Manics, but there’s room to catch both if you head to Calling Out at the close of the Main Stage.
