Live Review: The Soup (Il Lampione, Sauze d’Oulx 04/02/17)

An Italian wine bar off a cobbled street in the ski town of Sauze d’Oulx would be the venue for a marathon set by cover band The Soup. Led by bass guitarist who led vocals they played in excess of 20 songs of a wide variety.

Their fondness of Johnny Cash was visible from the off, though, popular with US sections of an intimate and probably quite pissed audience, by no means from personal experience. When The Beatles and Oasis both appeared, the pocket of the audience rapturously chanting the name of drummer Fabio were in fine voice, probably making the 2 hour set viable.

It would all come full circle with final song, post-curfew being Dakota by Stereophonics, recently announced as to be headlining Kendal Calling this year. A great end to a week in the Alps.
