Live Review: The Shimmer Band (Liverpool Buyers Club 13/10/16)

Bristol’s The Shimmer Band headed to the intimate Buyers Club for the 3rd date of their UK tour.

In a metallic waterproof jacket Tom Newman enters the stage to psychedelic tones, waving his mic in the air like Ian Brown he leads the five piece through a set of power rock tunes. They’re very much adolescents in their music careers but now armed with singles that’ve proved popular already.

Their highlights are ‘Sunkick’ and ‘Freedom’, with equal amounts of Kasabian’s later work and an appropriate dose of Miles Kane, their tracks rise and crash off beat creating a brilliant edgy sound.

They’re well worth keeping an eye on, in the slipstream of bands like Peace and Blossoms perhaps this UK tour can spread the word of a band that has certain promise.
