Track Review – The Sherlocks “Live For The Moment”

“THINGS HAVE GONE INSANE!!!!!!!!!!” reads @TheSherlocksUK’s Twitter feed, and they have. The Sheffield band consisting of two pairs of brothers have seemingly gone from nothing to being the talk of music fans everywhere in the space of a few days at the start of what could be an X-Factor style fairytale, without the help of Mr Cowell’s wallet. Although the 4-piece have been around for a few years now, their new single “Live For The Moment” is their debut.

With a style that can be likened to The Enemy and another reasonably big band from Sheffield, the single revolves around a pretty basic idea which is clear from the title alone. There’s not much to dislike about the song, with a memorable chorus that has been plastered over social media in the last 48 hours, it’s difficult not to accredit it a success already.

The video features a classic rooftop performance with a plot in the background that appears to repeat, a charming tale of slot machines and John Smiths. It’s well worth a look and it can be seen here:

The other Sheffield band mentioned earlier, uttered a quote that resonates even today, a few years later and it’s very difficult not to believe the hype around The Sherlocks after this first single. The only question is, who will sign them up?
